Amy Emmerich, CEO of the Miss Universe Organization, claims "one of the top four accounting firms in the US handled the results and verified the process"
Media executive Amy Emmerich, now CEO of Miss Universe Organization, has stepped forward to address claims of this year's pageant being potentially rigged. Miss USA, Filipino-American R'Bonney Gabriel, won the competition on Saturday.
The allegations arose due to Anne Jakrajutatip, new owner of Miss Universe, also having ownership of the Miss USA competitions.
Emmerich ensures that the claims, which have Miss Venezuela Amanda Dudamel as the supposed rightful winner are unfounded. In words to TMZ, the executive said the following: "One of the top four accounting firms in the United States handled the results and verified the process."
Emmerich goes further and says the claims are attributed to ignorance: "The allegations of rigging Miss Universe are false. People saying that it's 'suspect' that JKN Global Group owns both Miss Universe and Miss USA aren't familiar with the history of the organizations."
To validate her claims, there is a precedent of one entity owning several of the beauty competitions. In 2015, the IMG group purchased Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA.
Emmerich ended her statements by saying that R'Bonney Gabriel was the rightful victor: "She was a strong and dedicated contestant".
