The year 2023 is expected to be one of the best ever for movies, with many of the new releases taking pride of place in the science fiction category. A number of outstanding science fiction films were released in 2022, including the multiverse-hopping Everything Everywhere All At Once, Jordan Peele's latest sci-fi horror, Nope, and the most recent Jurassic Park film, Jurassic World: Dominion. 2023 will start off strong for sci-fi, with both theatrical releases and original films coming soon to streaming providers. Sci-fi shows no signs of slowing down.
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania (February 17)
Kang the Conqueror, the new main antagonist for the Multiverse Saga of the MCU, will face off against Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, in Marvel Studios' first theatrical movie of 2023. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, and MCU newbie Kathryn Newton will play heroes battling Jonathan Majors' evil Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will be directed by Peyton Reed of Marvel Studios fame. This movie is expected to be very significant for the MCU because it will set up significant events for Phases 5 and 6. Release day for Quantumania is set on February 17, 2023.
The Mothership (2023)
Another Netflix original, The Mothership centers on Sara Morse, played by Halle Berry, who unearths an extraterrestrial object beneath her house a year after her husband vanished without a trace. In this movie, which is being directed by Matt Charman, the creator of Treason, Bridge of Spies, and the Charlie Cox series, Berry will star alongside Molly Parker and Omari Hardwick. Although The Mothership doesn't yet have a release date, filming has ended on this new production, so audiences may anticipate seeing this great journey very soon.

Rebel Moon (2023)
Zack Snyder's epic space opera Rebel Moon, which has yet to be given a specific release date, will be available on Netflix at some point in 2023. It was inspired by the films of Akira Kurosawa and the Star Wars saga. Rebel Moon, which tells the tale of a young woman played by Sofia Boutella who embarks on a quest to preserve the galaxy, will star actors like Charlie Hunnam and Anthony Hopkins. Viewers should anticipate a pretty crazy experience because Rebel Moon was first marketed as a more mature ending to the Star Wars prequels.

M3GAN (January 6)
M3GAN is slated to be one of the spookiest sci-fi horror films of 2023 and is being produced by Atomic Monster Productions and Blumhouse Productions (The Conjuring, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). M3GAN, starring Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, and Amie Donald as the titular robot, tells the tale of Gemma (Williams), who takes custody of her niece Cady (McGraw) after her parents pass away in a car accident. Gemma uses M3GAN, a robotic companion who is way too overprotective, to help keep Cady company. To the excitement of horror enthusiasts everywhere, M3GAN will be released in theaters on January 6, 2023.

Spaceman (2023)
In 2023, Johan Renck will film this adaptation of the 2017 book Spaceman of Bohemia for Netflix, which will be his first project since helming the wildly successful HBO miniseries Chernobyl in 2019. In the movie Spaceman, Adam Sandler will play Jakub Procházka, an orphan who was raised by his grandparents in the Czech countryside and who aspires to be the nation's first astronaut and sets out on a perilous expedition to Venus. Lenka, played by Carey Mulligan, is Jakub's wife. Paul Dano and Isabella Rossellini will also appear in the movie.
