Cinephiles and the Indian film industry as a whole have been missing out on jewels of films as a result, but not anymore. Several underappreciated South Indian movies have recently been launched on OTT platforms as a result of the growth of these channels. 1. Varalaru Mukkiyam
Varalaru Mukkiyam is a hilarious Tamil romantic comedy directed by Santhosh Rajan. This directorial debut stars Kashmira Pardeshi and Jiva in the main roles and makes for an amazing treat for all fans of light-hearted movies. It had a theatrical release on 9th December 2022 and will be released on Netflix on 15th January.

Hit: The first case being a success, director Sailesh Kolanu was back with the second movie of the franchise in no time. It is a Telugu crime thriller that has the right amount of suspense and will leave you amazed with every twist and turn in the plot. It is available to watch on Amazon Prime.

3. Naai Sekar Returns
A slapstick comedy, Naai Sekar returns is perfect for anyone who wants a lighthearted movie after a tiresome day at work. The Tamil comedy stars Vadivelu in the titular role along with Shivani Narayanan and Sanjana Singh. Chaos ensues when a gangster’s dog is abducted by a local kidnapper for ransom. 4. Gatta Kusthi
Starring Aishwarya Lekshmi and Vishnu, Gatta Kusthi is a Tamil sports comedy that deals with the struggle of a wrestler’s partner to be a traditional wife. It touches on a very serious topic in a humorous way making it a must-watch. It is one of the most awaited new South Indian movies on OTT in January 2023, now available on Netflix.
5. Saudi Vellaka
With a new cast ensemble that truly reflects the idea of the film’s setting, Saudi Vellakka is a courtroom drama that will take you through a series of emotions. The movie has attempted to convey the inefficiency of the judicial system in a funny and playful manner. It is available to watch on SonyLIV.
6. Head Bush
Head Bush is a Kannada period drama set in 1970. It depicts the unseen days of Bengaluru and is widely appreciated for its direction by Shoonya. It is considered to be a Kannada blockbuster of 2022 and will be streaming on Zee5 this month.
7. Parole
A 2022 Tamil crime thriller, Parole stars Linga, R. S. Karthik, Kalpika Ganesh, and Monisha Murali in the lead roles. It revolves around the story of two brothers out of whom one is a criminal on parole who reunite to perform their mother’s last rites. 8. Jaya jaya jaya jaya hey
Jaya jaya jaya jaya hey is another movie that deals with a sensitive topic in a lively yet wise manner. It is about a married woman who fights for her right to continue studying even after marriage. The plot as mentioned earlier is brilliant with an amazing screenplay- all actors have done justice to their roles.
