What Are Bryan and Sarah Baeumler's Earnings For Renovation Island?

Bryan and Sarah Baeumler have upped the ante on HGTV. The couple literally bought a resort and renovated it on TV, giving us a transformation of not just a house, but an entire business. Talk about the perfect residential improvement show. But "Renovation Island" isn't just about renovations. Sarah and Bryan document their personal lives, too, along with their four children: Quintyn, Charlotte, Lincoln, and Josephine Baeumler.

The Canadian family picked up and moved to the Bahamas to start their next chapter — an ambitious one, no doubt. Buying a dilapidated resort is no impulse purchase! Nor is it for the faint of heart. They were already owners of their resort, Caerula Mar, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, which slowed business down to a crawl. However, as soon as travel restrictions were lifted, they were back in full swing fast. Bryan told The Wrap that they "very quickly went from just empty shutdown to gangbusters." But they weren't intimidated. "So we turned the jets on and got it done," he said. Obviously, the resort is designed to make money, but how much do they get from HGTV?

Bryan Baeumler owns his own production company

We're all dying to know what Bryan and Sarah Baeumler make for their HGTV show, "Renovation Island." Unfortunately, there are no confirmed numbers for this question. Thankfully, Distractify did some clever calculations so we can at least get a rough idea of what they might be bringing in for documenting their renovation journey. As the outlet points out, HGTV pays $45,000-$50,000 for an episode of "House Hunters," so it's probable that the Baeumlers make somewhere in this range. That would mean that, per season, they're bringing in about $650,000.

There are a few other advantages that set the Baeumlers apart from other renovation shows. One is that Bryan owns their production company, Bryland Entertainment, Country Living notes, so everything is handled between the Baeumlers and HGTV. The second is that since "Renovation Island" is relegated to one location, as opposed to other shows that chronicle the transformation of several different locations, the film crew doesn't have to move around as much. It's location-specific, which is a huge asset with filming.

The Baeumlers are 'in pretty deep'

While the Baeumlers might make big money thanks to "Renovation Island" and the resort itself, they also shelled out a ton of cash to make it happen. They bought the resort for $2 million, according to The Wrap, and their initial plan was to spend $4 million on renovations. Well, anyone who's done even a small home reno knows that things never stay on budget. "Yeah, we're in it," Bryan told the outlet. "We're in pretty deep."

When he referred to their initial estimate of $4 million on fixing the place up, he said, "We more than doubled that before we opened the doors." This means they've put over $10 million into Caerula Mar.

The Baeumlers are obviously ambitious and bold when it comes to taking risks. This is something they also teach their children while educating them about money. "Giving your kids some measure of responsibility can teach them the concept of working for money," Sarah told RBC Royal Bank. "And when they work for cash — or for something they want — there is more weight and significance attached to the item purchased." It's a great education for their kids, too!
