One Person Might Replace Quaritch As The Villain In Avatar 3

In the first two Avatar films, Colonel Quaritch served as the antagonist, but The Way of Water is already setting up his replacement in Avatar 3.

Colonel Quaritch served as the primary antagonist in the first Avatar and reappeared in Avatar: The Way of Water, but the third installment of the series has finally found a suitable substitute. Making Quaritch an Avatar and reintroducing his biological son, Spider, was a risky choice for the sequel, but it paid off in spades. Avatar: The Way of Water has created the ideal scenario for the franchise's upcoming antagonist, thus Avatar 3 shouldn't try to pull the same stunt for a third movie and needn't.

The long-awaited sequel to the 2009 box office smash Avatar: The Way of Water finally allows viewers to see the Pandoran realm. The movie follows Jake Sully and his Na'vi family as they must leave the Omatikaya clan since Col. Quaritch has returned and is only interested in killing Jake Sully. Spider, Jake and Neytiri's recently introduced adopted son, is kidnapped by Quaritch, and the couple takes care of him after the RDA departs. Quaritch's son, Spider, appears to have some significant future ambitions in Avatar 3.

The Na'vi Don't Accept Spider

While some Na'vi, such as Spider's brothers and father Jake, accept him, other Na'vi, like as Spider's own adoptive mother Neytiri, do not. Spider has spent his whole life among the Na'vi and takes part in all of the Omatikaya's cultural and social customs, but a large portion of the clan rejects him since he is a human. Trouble began on Pandora when humans first arrived, and after the events of the first Avatar, the clan exiled humanity (with a few exceptions). Despite the fact that Spider appears to be one of them, many Na'vi will never accept him.

When Spider first sees Quaritch, his birth father, his loneliness that has persisted throughout Avatar: The Way of Water starts to disappear. Even though he first hates him, Quaritch is finally saved by him during the battle with Jake Sully at the conclusion of Avatar: The Way of Water. As a result of his concern that Neytiri will execute him on the ship, Spider even starts to fear the Na'vi. Even while Spider still appears to support the Na'vi at the end of the movie, things could change in Avatar 3.

Twist in Avatar 3 Could Turn Spider Into A Villain

The conclusion of Avatar: The Way of Water suggests that Spider will continue to honor his father and may even turn out to be the antagonist in Avatar 3. Spider has been alienated by the Omatikaya since they haven't welcomed him, and as a result, he has started to hate and fear his parents. According to rumors, there will be a sizable period of time between Avatar 3 and the previous movie, which suggests that Spider's shift toward villainy may intensify over this time.

But this isn't just conjecture. Recently, Spider actor Jack Champion hinted that the plot of Avatar 3 would undergo a significant change by stating that the movie "makes a severe left turn." This twist will definitely have something to do with Champion's persona given that he is teasing it. Given that Quaritch's replacement in Avatar 3 was previously established in Avatar: The Way of Water, Spider turning into a villain might easily be the left turn that Champion is alluding to.
