Based on the Naver webtoon by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan, Sweet Home is produced by Studio Dragon and tells the story of Cha Hyun-soo (played by Song Kang), a high school student who moves into an apartment building, only to find that monsters have taken over the premises.
The first season ended on several cliffhangers, and fans can expect the creators to explore these storylines in Sweet Home Season 2.
Season 1 of Sweet Home ends on a cliffhanger, with many questions left unanswered. The survivors must navigate through a dangerous world filled with monsters, while also dealing with the threat posed by the military and its Operation Golden Hour. At the end of the season, the apartment building collapses and Eun-hyeok is presumed dead, while Hyun-Soo wakes up in an armored vehicle after his confrontation with the military.
Director Lee Eung-bok has stated that the upcoming season will feature a new setting and will refine the technical details that were not able to be polished in season 1. Despite his desire to be faithful to the source material, season 1 saw several changes and additions to the original webtoon.
According to Netflix, the next installment of Sweet Home will take place in a new setting, following the main character Hyun-soo's capture by the military and the narrow escape of the remaining survivors from Green Home. Most of the main cast, including Song Kang, Lee Si-young, Lee Jin-wook, Go Min-si, and Park Gyu-young, will be returning for season 2. However, the fate of Lee Eun-hyuk (played by Lee Do-hyun) remains a mystery after his ominous final scene in season 1.
Sweet Home Season 2 will introduce new characters, including Yoo Oh-sung as Tak In-hwan, a special forces leader, Oh Jung-se as Doctor Lim, a vaccine researcher, and Kim Moo-yeol and Jung Jin-young as soldiers in the special forces. These new additions are expected to change and challenge the existing dynamic between the survivors.
Singer-songwriter BIBI was initially reported to be making her K-drama debut in Sweet Home Season 2 but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Keep an eye on Devdiscourse for further updates and developments on Netflix’s Sweet Home Seasons 2 and 3.
