Selena Gomez defends her body after being criticized at the Golden Globes: I'm a little bit bigger now, because I'm having fun
Selena Gomez has responded to the comments she received on social media during the Golden Globes about her body shape. She was accused of being fatter than normal and many Twitter users criticized her. Now, the 30-year-old actress has responded to them all.
Decked out in a strapless Valentino dress with a plunging neckline, she was one of the stars of the ceremony, as well as being nominated for 'Best Actress'.
Criticism came as she posed for the cameras upon her arrival, during an Instagram Live video, Selena addressed critics accompanied by her 9-year-old sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey.
"I'm a little bigger right now because I had fun on holiday," Gomez explained.
"But we don't care."
Her weight and physique changes have caused her a lot of trouble on social media, and she disappeared from social media in 2019, but now she seems to be in a much better place to deal with such unwarranted comments.
It's not the first time she's been criticized
Selena also explained that the idea she had in her head about what her future would be like hurt her greatly last year.
"I thought I would be married by 25 and I couldn't have been more confused," she added.
"That idea destroyed me because I didn't even come close to what I always imagined."
These mental health problems triggered a bipolar disorder that the artist was diagnosed with in 2018.
"I had to detox and even relearn some words because I couldn't remember them. It took me a long time and a lot of work to accept that I was bipolar," she concluded.
